In income tax, a theoretical income amount, annually determined by the tax authorities, for the purpose of withholdings and credits in respect of paymetns to a provident fund or to life insurance. This is an abitrarary amount fixed as a ceiling. Anyone with an income higher than the ceiling is not allowed the tax advantages on amounts greater than the entitled income.
