this is on a divorce certificate, actually other side of marriage certificate. I am assuming it is an abbreviation of averbação but just wanted to make sure it says av-01 por sentença transitada... after this text there appears another av-02 then text then another av-03 Appreciate your help.

Yes, "av" stands for "averbação", as you assumed. The first one, when the decision became unappealable (transidada em julgado).
