: the only change I would make: "close by" /"close enough" instead of "near her", as I think it refers to the forest.

Aici, „a se lăuda că s-a putut apropia” ar fi mai degrabă „claim...” - a pretinde că a reușit..., nu neapărat „a se lăuda, a se da mare” etc.
