A dog's name Explanation: Tuzik is a popular dog's name in Russia. Usually it is given to smal mongrel dogs. Also this is the name of pupular chocholates in Russia (quite tasty I may say, I liked them very much when a child:o)) Hope this helps. |

bigwig; influential (important) person Explanation: TUZIK - if the subject is finances, politics or similar, then it is a diminutive of tuz (sardastically called "very important little person"). It would help to see more of the context. Another good guess |

name of a small goddy (male), deminuitive from "ace" (in cards), etc. Explanation: Indeed, the word тузик is a diminutive of the word туз. тузик mainly is used 1) to call dogs (Тузик male only) which are not too large by size; 2) as name of butter-scotch sweets (ириски "Тузик"); 3) to name an ace of playing cards in the diminutive sense: А вот мы сейчас зайдем с тузика... Since you used this word without first capital, it could seemingly mean namely the third item. Sincerely yours, Dr. Tagir S. additional info:) Explanation: I recalled that by the same word a sort of small boat is called : "Тузик"* (I do not remember the plant producding this type of small boats which are two-oar and rather convenient for fiching; their title is used namely as a reminder of a small dog's name). Another approach can be met for instance in the following phrase: "Да какой же ты туз?! Так, тузик какой-то...", in which again both senses of the word тузик are used: 1) deminuitive form of bigwig, big noise; big shot; ace, scull, and 2) small doggy's name. Please also recall that in Russian the word туз is also used in navy slang (or terminology) and mean a (two-oar) dinghy. Please note that this is the third reason for that name goven to a small boat (see *). Now I think you have all information for deciding on what is the real sense of your word:) Tagir Same sources |
