It sounds like an integral piece, the "cola y bol". When there are two diddimilar configurations together, they are usually designed with a radius or fillet (a small,1/4 inch or so curved area between them), to provide more strength.

I went back and looked up \"curva de acuerdo\" in the Routledge dictionary and it suggested fillet or radius.
fillet: [1] A round joint between two parts connected at an angle. [2] Weld metal in the internal vertex, or corner, of the angle formed by two pieces of metal, giving the joint additional strength to withstand unusual stresses.
