When it is described as a noun and as a general subject "Automotive" doesn't sound right. Would it be "Automotive Technology"? Thanks.

The automotive industry
Existir existe, as they say - but we don't much go for the word "automotion" in the British Isles. If you look at the Google hits they are mainly for proper nouns, business names etc.
I would be inclined like you to turn it around a bit therefore and try to talk about the automotive industry. I know it's sometimes tricky (it's my main area of translation) but automotion just doesn't sound right.
