(1) Happy translating on International Translation Day!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since 2009, ProZ.com has offered free online events to celebrate International Translation Day (September 30th). If you have not already, set aside some time to attend the celebration this year-- you can attend from the comfort of your home or office, sit in on presentations and discussions, network, get special deals on tools for translators, and the events are all free!
This year, the events will take place over two days, on the 29th and the 30th. Attendees will be able to access all event material for at least 90 days after the events, so even if you miss something you can come back and watch it later.
(2) September 29th: CAT tool and software day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Start things off on Tuesday, September 29th, with a day of free presentations on various tools and software for translators. It is a great opportunity to see what is out there to help you improve your work, to get guidance on tools you are already using, and to check out some special discounts available only during the International Translation Day celebration.

(3) September 30th: Virtual conference for International Translation Day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On Wednesday, September 30th, enjoy another day of free online presentations, panel discussions, focus groups, and special offers for attendees. It is also an excellent chance to network with colleagues from around the world. Here are some highlights from the event's program:
* How to find direct clients and run a business that you love
* Is that translation or interpreting? The emerging market for hybrid communication models
* Getting in the game: How-to for translation beginners
* Effective sales strategies for translators and interpreters
* Helpful tips for freelance translators
* Central European translation market survey results
* The future is here. Are you ready to remain competitive?
* Client relationship management (panel discussion)
* Leveraging voice recognition technology for greater efficiency (panel discussion)
(4) Make sure you get the most out of these free events
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As with any online or in person event, you might learn a thing or two you didn't already know, and pick up some food for thought. But don't forget that networking is just as important. Many freelance translators have stated that good networking has been a valuable source of new clients and work.

So far, over 6,000 language professionals are registered for these events, so you can expect to see colleagues from all around the world and in many different areas of expertise during these two days. A few key things, like entering a bio for the events (under the "My data" section), and making sure that your language pairs and areas of specialization are properly reflected in your ProZ.com profile, can help ensure that you will be able to connect with other professionals.

Check out the guidelines to help you prepare for, and get the most out of, these events at http://www.proz.com/virtual-conferences/671/prepare

Thank you to all of the speakers and sponsors who make ProZ.com's virtual events for International Translation Day possible. I hope to see you there, and happy translating!
