Dear all, I have MS Word 2002 SP3 and strangely enough in the last few days I cannot view properly email addresses and weblinks in Word documents. To be more precise, instead of becoming blu after typing a space after the link itself, links turn into a series of grey tags, as if the software could not "read" the links properly. I must have inadvertently changed some settings, but don't know which ones and how to restore the previous ones. Can anyone help me? ... In Word > Preferences > View, check if Field Codes is activated. If it is, deselect. Hope this helps. | | | Sara Carboni Local time: 14:39 Member (2007) French to Italian + ... TOPIC STARTER Field codes - which dropdown menu? | Feb 22, 2010 |
Dear itla, Many thanks for your reply. Which specific dropdown menu in Word are you referring to? Thanks again, Sara | | | Field codes - which dropdown menu? | Feb 22, 2010 |
Hola Sara, When you have MS Word Open, select the top menu "TOOLS" then the drop down menu "OPTIONS". Look for the tab "VIEW" and on your top right hand side look for the "FIELD CODES" Itla was referring to. If it is checked then Uncheck it. Hopefully this will resolve the problem. Ciao, | |

Hi dear colleagues, I agree with İtla, because I had the same problem a month ago and I found myself after a while trying. It is in Tools, Options, View ad Field Codes. You should clear the selection of field codes. That is it. Or if that does not help, you should try to disable or enable the selection of picture placeholders. IT will help. Best regards, your Turkish colleague. Nuri | | | Sara Carboni Local time: 14:39 Member (2007) French to Italian + ... Problem solved! Many thanks to you all for your help! Those codes were so annoying! Sara | | | Another tip which might help | Feb 23, 2010 |
Hello Sara, I'm not sure if this will help since my keyboard and your keyboard might be different, but if you press Alt + F9, i.e. a short cut for the procedures given by other colleagues, you should be able to change the troubled settings of viewing email addresses and website links in blue and in a series of gray tags alternatively (I had to call Micrsoft Technical Support to solve this problem, and it works). | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Viewing email addresses and weblinks in Word Trados Studio 2022 Freelance | The leading translation software used by over 270,000 translators.
