My name is Yajun GE, male, associate prof of Tianjin University of Commerce, lawyer of Guopeng Law Firm in Tianjin (License No 020096120675), vice director of the Committee of International Economy and Trade of Tianjin Bar Association, member of the Translators Association of China (P08407), member of the Legal Committee of China Democratic National Construction Association, Tianjin Branch.
As a graduate of Xi'an Foreign Studies University, Northwest University of Political Science and Law and the Chinese University of Politicl Science and Law, I have been engaged in teaching with my university ever since 1989, freelance translating and interpreting ever since 1993 and practice of law ever 1996.
My specialty and academic preference is legal English, and I have built a collaborative relationship with my direct clients and translation service providers majorly from Tianjin, Beijing and Shanghai in China, the language combination being Chinese-English and English-Chinese, in particular, Chinese-English; The most most preferrable texts for me to be translated are legal instruments in Chinese or English, contracts and agreements, MOU, LOI, articles of association, legal opinion, court and arbitration instruements, board resolutions, workers rules, etc. followed by audit reports, capital verification reports, business correspondence. From a few years ago, I have frequently been invited to translate papers in international congress proceedings, the language combination being again Chinese-English mostly.
I have attended quite a number of international conferences, the mos memorable one is the 18th FIT congress in Shanghai, where I delivered my paper entitled the Bottleneck and Development of Translation Human Resources: Case of Tianjin, dated 6th August 2008.
Amongst my books published are Master English for Lawyer (solely authored in 2002, 437,000 words), Contracts in English (solely authored in 2008, 300,000 words), and A Classified Chinese-English Law Dictionary, first deputy editor-in-chief in 2004, 680,000 words).
I am a member of Tiajin Tranalsators Association. In 2006, I was awarded Most Outstanding Translators in Tianjin. |
