Source text - English Propaganda has a bad meaning. The word has been associated with Nazism, Fascism, Communism, and so many other “isms,” that it has assumed the general coat of badness that such relationships imply (s:13). In the first place, Propaganda merely has a bad odor in America because of people do not stop to think; they accept common usage. The laugh is on them, for in accepting the common usage and thus the bad implications of the word, people themselves demonstrate that they are easily allergic to propaganda. Propaganda comes from a very respectable ancestor. It is derived from the Latin word meaning “to sow.”
Translation - Turkish Propaganda kelimesi kötü bir anlama sahiptir. Kelime Nazizm, Faşizm, Komünizm de dahil olmak üzere o kadar çok “izm”le ilişkilendirilmiştir ki bu ilişkilerin ima ettiği kötülük üzerini bir örtü gibi kaplamıştır (s:13). Propaganda kelimesinin Amerika’da bu kadar kötü bir şöhrete sahip olmasının nedeni insanların yeterince düşünmemesi, genel kullanımı hemen kabul etmeleridir.
