20 years of technical and tourism
translations
from Japan

Welcome to my page. I have two decades of experience meeting translation needs for clients in Europe and worldwide from Japan. Please see some examples of my work to date:

Tourism translation/editing/copywriting

I live in Japan, the fastest-growing tourism market in the world and regularly handle translation for hotels, travel agents, and tourism companies. The Japan National Tourism Organization and Kobe City entrusted key work to me. Personally, I have travelled extensively within and outside Japan to 30 countries, stayed in every level of accommodation and understand what tourists want and need in today's market.

Technical translation/editing

Technical areas I excel in include specifications: EU tenders, cahiers des charges, manufacturing upgrades and manuals. I have worked for companies such as Hitachi, Mitsubishi and BMW and am more than comfortable with such work, which offsets the tourism. I recently managed and completed a 200,000 character job from Japanese to English for Panasonic on e-learning (electromagnetics).

I translated Hitachi materials for use in Taiwan (JP>EN)

There are not so many PROZ.com members in Japan but I
believe my ability to bridge Europe and Japan is a key asset and I would be
happy to use those qualities. I have strong bonds with the Chambers of Commerce
of France and Germany in Japan and a thriving network of colleagues, mainly in
Europe and the USA, with whom I engage on a daily basis.

I remain calm at all times, have extremely high pain
tolerance, tunnel vision and an active social life outside translation which
gives me the downtime I need to give 150% when 'at the coal face.' If you would
like to know more:

Please add my FB (short message appreciated)

I have the latest translation software if needed and
regularly assist colleagues and companies from Europe who approach the end of
their day (16:00) without a solution - I take such work overnight in Japan and
have it waiting in the morning. I've done this regularly and even semi-miracles
at times. Most recently for my Chartered Linguist colleague Alina CINCAN
