I am a freelance translator specialized in legal translation (Contracts, Partnerships and Corporations, Debtor/Creditor and Bankruptcy, Procedural Law, Maritime and Aviation Law, International Trade, International Law, Trademarks, Patents and Copyrights, Internet Law, Banking, Negotiable Instruments). I also translate different kinds of accounting documents, financial statements, documents related to human sciences and education. I have great experience in legal, business and financial translation. My degree as lawyer helps me to understand the differences between the two legal systems (common law and civil law)and makes it easier for me the legal translation. As regards technical translation, I have been retained by important local and foreign companies to translate technical documents dealing with telecommunications, oil and gas, ecology and environment, valves and boilers, electric power, information systems, etc.
I have always worked as free lancer though in some occasions I was hired by different companies that participated in the various international bids carried out in my country for the privatization of different state-owned companies (telephone carriers, cellular telephony, gas distributors, electric power companies, oil companies, among others). At present, some of said companies are my clients.
I also work for the major Law Firms and Accounting Firms of my country, and some of the major Pharmaceutical companies. Some international institutions and universities are also my clients.
Moreover, I was hired by Macchi, Grupo Editor S.A. (a publishing company) for translating a book dealing with macroeconomics, the book title was “Macroeconomics”, by the American economist Gregory Mankiw. This book is at present being used as text-book in several Schools of Economics.
I have also worked on the translation of a book on leadership, “Risktaker, Caretaker, Surgeon, Undertaker, the four faces of Leadership”, by William E. Rothschild; and of an interesting book about benchmarking: “Benchmarking: a signpost to Excellence in Quality and Productivity”, by the Swedish authors Bengt Karlof and Svante Ostblom.
Finally, I frequently act as Court Interpreter and Translator before the civil, commercial, criminal and administrative courts of the Federal Capital. I have been appointed as expert witness on several occasions to work as translator and court interpreter.
In 2004, I started a Master in Law and Economics, at the School of Law of the University of Buenos Aires. |
