Bio

Born and raised in South Korea, my
native language is Korean. However, not long after I began studying English, I
realized I have a great interest and talent in helping the Korean and English
speakers communicate. Naturally, I began to pursue a goal to be a professional translator/interpreter.
Therefore, I chose to major in the English language and literature in
university.

While I was still at college, I received a
training as a junior translator from a small translation agency. While I was
working for that company, I took on various projects both in translation and
interpretation. I was often sent to business operations to translate or interpret
and at times received court interpretation assignments at district and high
courts of justice located in Seoul
and other
cities in
South Korea.
On a personal level, I had much experience helping my English-speaking friends
and neighbors communicate with Korean doctors at hospitals and clinics. This
was not work done for any payment, but a service I performed free of charge out
of my concern for people.

After graduation from university, I worked
for multinational corporations as a translator before I began working as a
freelancer in 2006. Since then, I have worked with various translation
agencies, including international translation companies such as Lionbridge and
theBigWord.

So far, I have translated over 8 million
source words and I can translate both from English to Korean and vice versa. I
am currently an associate member of STIBC (Society of Translators and
Interpreters of British Columbia) located in Vancouver
BC.
My membership with STIBC proves I have ample experience in translation and
interpretation and understand and comply with high ethical standards required
of a translator/interpreter.
