I was born in Medellin Colombia, my grade school was at a British (mono-lingual, English only) school, English was also mandatory at home (paternal), Spanish, was everyday elsewhere, after that I did half my highschool in the US (now Spanish was mandatory at home), then returned to Bogota Colombia and finished school and college (B.A.) these last in Spanish. While still in school, the family business being international representation of US firms, and before doing my homework, it was my task to type (mechanical typewriters then) all the foreign correspondence to and from English and Spanish, translate into english all the quote requests and then translate the formal offers into Spanish. Also from English to Spanish, brocuhres, owner and operator manuals. I am still doing the same job every day, but since 2000 I do it for myself instead of family, I own this business currently and do translations as a side busines and passion. This is the very first time I do any kind of advertisement or promotion. While in College in Colombia I worked (moonlighting) as an English Teacher, as well as a transator and editor for a local PC magazine (while studying and also working for the family in the representations business).
I am a very dedicated and thorough translator, electing to take a bit of extra time (even if it means a revenue cut) in order to ensure that the job get done correctly. |
