Source text - English POVZETEK V današnjem, z dobrinami prenasičenem življenju, v hitrem razvoju in ob stalnem pomanjkanju časa so trgovska podjetja prisiljena nenehno slediti, se prilagajati in učiti ter s tem skušati zadovoljiti vse bolj zahtevnega kupca. Hkrati morajo stroške za svoje delo kar se da optimizirati, seveda do tiste meje, da je njihova funkcija kvalitetno opravljena. Boj za kupca je v hudi konkurenci neizprosen, zato je potrebno izpolniti mnogo dejavnikov, da kupca pridobimo, dosežemo da se bo k nam vrnil in se vedno znova vračal. V diplomski nalogi želim raziskati dejavnike, ki vplivajo na odločitev kupca, ali bo v določeno trgovino vstopil, kaj kupil, ali se bo tja vrnil le naključno ali pa bo postal redni obiskovalec oziroma zvesti kupec. Postavila sem si tezo, da je prisotnost prodajalca na prodajnem mestu velikega pomena, hkrati pa tudi prijazno, predvsem pa strokovno svetovanje prodajalca velikega pomena za kupčevo odločitev o nakupu. Če so poleg teh dejavnikov izpolnjeni še ostali pogoji, kot so urejenost in preglednost prodajnih polic, čistoča, dobra postavitev reklamnih panojev, pa seveda tudi sama lokacija trgovine, parkirni prostor, poprodajne storitve…, je uspeh zagotovljen. Kupec bo prišel k nam, izdelek kupil in bo z njim zadovoljen. Vedno si bo zapomnil prijaznosti prodajalca in prav ta ga bo ponovno privabila v trgovino. Prodajalec ima lahko veliko, včasih celo ključno vlogo pri vplivu na odločitev kupca o nakupu. Končna ugotovitev, ali je moja teza pravilna, bo podana na podlagi opazovanj, primerjav, anketiranja in analiziranja. Namen diplomske naloge je proučiti trgovsko podjetje Mercator, d.d., analizirati in primerjati trženjski splet inter in intra konkurence, analizirati lokacijo in fizično okolje izbranega trgovinskega formata, se osredotočiti na del njihove ponudbe v trgovini na drobno, jo analizirati in primerjati s konkurenco. Raziskati želim dejavnike, ki vplivajo na kupčevo nakupno odločitev in njihovo lojalnost. Cilj diplomske naloge je dokazati, da je eden izmed pomembnih dejavnikov, ki vplivajo na zvestobo kupca tudi osebje v trgovini oz. prodajno osebje. V diplomski nalogi bom uporabila metodo opazovanja, metodo anketiranja in metodo primerjave. Na podlagi vsega tega bom opravila analizo ter podala nekaj osebnih predlogov za morebitna izboljšanja strategij za pridobitev zvestobe kupca.	Translation - Slovenian SUMMARY Nowadays our life is saturated with material goods, rapid development and constant lack of time. As a result, the commercial businesses are forced to continuously follow, adapt and learn in order to satisfy the increasing demands from the customers. Companies must optimize their expenditures but at the same time offer a good quality product. Because trade in a market competition can be inexorable, companies must be able to attract and retain customers by accomplishing key business factors that affect the customer’s decision. In this thesis I would like to research some of the key business factors that I believe affect the customer’s decision on whether the customer will enter the store to buy something by accident or will this customer become a regular buyer in this store. I believe that one of the key factors that will affect the customer’s decision on whether or not to buy a product is the presence and the attitude of the salesman. If the sales staff is kind and patient and offering expert advice on the product, the customer is more likely to stay in the store which increases the chances for the customer to buy the product. If other key factors are met such as the arrangement of the store shelves, the cleanliness of the store, how well the advertising boards are placed, as well as the location of the store, parking lot, after-sales services, etc., the sale is almost guaranteed. The customer will most definitely come back to the store, buy a product and walk out as a satisfied customer. I believe that customers do remember the kindness and the knowledge of the sales staff which increases the chances for customers to return back to the same store. A salesperson plays a key role in influencing the customer’s decision on a purchase. My thesis on the key business factors will be based on observing, comparing, surveying and analyzing the biggest commercial and distributing company in Slovenia, Mercator, d.d. In my research I will include the comparison of the competition for the market share between Mercator and other domestic stores and those owned by foreigners. I will also include the analysis of the store formats and their physical locations; concentrating on what Mercator is offering and comparing that with the competitive stores. My thesis will show that the customer’s loyalty is not solely based on the price of the product but also on the positive attitude of the store’s sales staff. For the research part of my thesis I will be using observation, survey and comparison methods and the results will be the basis for my analysis. I will add my personal comments on how to improve Mercator’s strategies to gain customer loyalty.

My name is Sabina Kohler and I have been in Colorado since 2002. Before I moved here, I was working for the American Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia for 6 years. I translated numerous things for the Public Affairs officer and the Ambassador. I also translated a booklet on human trafficking called "Be Smart and Stay Safe" sponsored by the Department of State.
In the past couple of years I have been translating mostly birth certificates, biographies, work experiences and school papers.

I love translating, it is my passion.
