I work with English and Spanish. I am a Spanish national and I have lived in London for the past 17 years. I have degree in Modern Languages from the University of Seville. I specialised in English Linguistics and Literature although I studied French and German as well. I have done two postgraduate courses, one in Written Translation and the other one in Public Services Interpreting. I have the Uk qualifications required awarded by the Institute of Linguists in the UK, which are DipTrans and DPSI. I specialise in legal translations and interpreting but I have a lot of experience in other fields.
I lived in the US for a year. I have lived in London since 1992. From 1993 till 1999 I worked in bilingual dictionaries as a compiler, translator and editor for Oxford University Press, Santillana and HaperCollins. I also worked as a translator and editor for Berlitz and Longman.
I qualified as a translator in 1997. I have been working as a freelance English to Spanish translator since. I have done all kinds of translations, for clients like Warner, Disney, Habitat, Lebara Mobile, Save the Children, construction companies with international projects (Fitzpatrick International being one of them). My areas of expertise are: Legal, Medical and Pharmaceutical, Media, Local Government, Media and Marketing, Immigration, Prison and Pensions, Design.
In the year 2000 I also qualified as an interpreter. I chose to specialise in Legal interpreting. I have been working as a freelance translator and interpreter since. My interpreting experience extends to: booth and conference interpreting, whispered interpreting for meetings and presentations, consecutive interpreting for the Home Office Immigration Panel, the Metropolitan Police in London, Instituto Cervantes, telephone interpreting for all kinds of clients, from prison work to hospitals, banking, customer services. I have recently qualified as a Metropolitan Police Interpreter and have joined the National Register for Public Services Interpreters.
I am also a fashion designer and hold a BA Hons degree from the prestigious London College of Fashion.
