Source text - English Martin has been writing for several years now. In 2003 he won the Saltire Society FIRST BOOK OF THE YEAR award, for Ath-Aithne. Gymnippers Diciadain (Wednesday Gymnippers), his new and first Gaelic novel, reached the shortleet for the 2005 Saltire Main Literary Prize, a marvellous achievement. Gymnippers Diciadain was launched at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in August 2005.In addition to writing, Martin is a talented Gaelic storyteller and traditional singer. He was recently project manager for the Tobar an Dualchais/Kist O Riches project, a joint initiative involving BBC Scotland, the University of Edinburgh and Sabhal Mor Ostaig, which aims to digitise Scotland’s precious oral tradition recordings in Gaelic, English and Scots. He now hopes to write full-time.

Im Jahre 2003 erhielt er den „First Book of the Year“ Preis der Saltire Society für seine Kurzgeschichtensammlung Ath-Aithne. Gymnippers Diciadain, sein Debütroman und gleichzeitig neuestes Werk, schaffte es in die engere Auswahl für den Saltire Literatur Preis 2005 und erlangte damit großen Erfolg. Gymnippers Diciadain wurde zum ersten Mal einem Publikum während des Edinburgh Buch Festivals vorgestellt.Martin MacIntyre ist nicht nur ein erfolgreicher Schriftsteller sondern auch ein begnadeter Geschichtenerzähler und Sänger. Bis vor kurzem war er Direktor des Tobar an Dualchais/Kist O Riches Projektes, eine gemeinsame Initiative von BBC Radio Scotland, der Universität zu Edinburgh und Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, welche das Ziel verfolgt, Schottlands reichen Schatz an Aufnahmen mündlicher Überlieferungen auf Gälisch, Englisch und Scots zu digitalisieren. Having lived in Germany until my early twenties, I moved to Edinburgh to study. I have now spent more than ten years in Scotland, the last six of which I have lived in North Uist, one of the islands of the Outer Hebrides. I appreciate and enjoy life on the island and like to get involved with its many aspects.
My work has included website translation and literary translation for the Gaelic Books Council in Glasgow (Scotland, UK), literary translation for Folio (Austria) and Rugerup (Sweden), and audio transcription and translation for Saarländischer Rundfunk (Germany) and Bayrischer Rundfunk and Telepool (Germany).
