Bio
I have recently completed a Masters degree in Translation and Professional Language Skills at the University of Bath and am now seeking employment as a freelance translator.

I translate Russian and French texts into English. As a native English speaker, I work predominantly into English, but have also worked from English into Russian in the past. I am also in the process of adding Spanish as a third passive language.

I have around two years experience in translation specifically, with additional experience in editing and revising. I also spent five years teaching English in Moscow, so I have a lot of language-based experience.

Before my masters degree, I worked as a translator and editor for Interfax International, an information agency in Moscow. The work centered around Russian economic sectors such as energy (oil, gas, power, nuclear), metals and mining, telecoms, Central Asia and banking. After a year, I returned to the UK to attend the University of Bath.

While I was studying, I performed a few freelance jobs as and when they would fit around my studies. These involved a few pieces from French into English for a Swiss agency and an interpreting job on behalf of the City of Bath for a visiting Russian artist. Now that I’ve finished my studies however, I want to take on freelance work on a full-time basis and am looking for new challenges.

I have also undertaken internships at the United Nations in New York and International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, as well as a recent one-week paid contract at the International Atomic Energy Agency.

My specialisms include energy, metals, financial and commercial translation (as I did a lot of work in these sectors while working at Interfax) but I also have experience translating marketing, telecoms and many other types of text.

In addition to my translation skills, I also have experience in editing, copywriting, revision and proofreading and have studied Public Service interpreting at post graduate level. In addition, I also attended all consecutive and simultaneous interpreting classes at Bath, but was unable to take the relevant exams for official reasons. A reference can be provided to that end.
