Spanish to English - Standard rate: 0.04 GBP per word / 15 GBP per hour
I am shortly to complete an MA in Translation (currently writing dissertation) and am experienced in several specialist fields. These include medicine, mental health, psychology, pharmacology, environment, meteorology, insurance, sport and music.
I am aware of the importance of both accuracy and speed - all projects will be subject to rigorous research in order to provide the most accurate rendering in the target language and all deadlines will be strictly adhered to.
I am honest and will not take on a project which I feel is unrealistic. If the deadline is too tight or the area of speciality is not one I am totally comfortable with I will tell you. I never compromise on quality.
I have studied Spanish for 16 years, and have a BA in Modern Languages (Spanish, Russian and Linguistics) and have nearly completed an MA in Translation (Spanish to English), with only my dissertation to complete.
I have spent a total of 7 months residence in Spain (in 96/97 and this year) and have excellent knowledge of its people, its culture and, of course, its language.
During my MA course I carried out the translation of a 5000 word web-site article on the neurological, psychological and pharmacological aspects of anxiety disorders. I also created a 40 term monolingual glossary for the translated text. (I was awarded a grade of 79% for this project).
I have also translated many other, shorter texts in various subject fields.
Other areas of specialisation include meteorology (project work during MA), music (I have been a practising musician for about 15 years) and insurance (I have 2 year's experience in the industry).
I also have extensive experience of translating and interpreting for a UK government agency (the 'Criminal Records Bureau').
