Source text - English Copper hits 9-month high on economy, weak dollar
By Rebekah Curtis and Michael Taylor
LONDON, July 20 - Copper hit a nine-month high on
Monday, buoyed by a weaker dollar and improving economic
sentiment, with some analysts expecting that global demand for
industrial metals could start to improve later this year.
Live price data was available from the London Metal Exchange
after initial problems.
Copper for three-months delivery on the London Metal
Exchange was last bid at $5,345 a tonne from a close of $5,310
on Friday.
The metal used in power and construction earlier hit a high
of $5,464.75, its highest since mid-October.
"Most of the support is stemming from the dollar," said
Catherine Virga, senior base metals analyst at CPM Group. "There
is also some fundamental support from the U.S. economic data
late last week."
"Equity and base metal markets are ticking up on the
sentiment towards economic recovery."
Investors are gaining confidence in the prospect of economic
recovery as data, though still mixed, is gradually improving. A
recent slew of upbeat U.S. earnings has also cheered investors.
Underlining a brighter mood, European shares rallied
following a last-minute $3 billion rescue of U.S. CIT Group.
Also supporting sentiment, a survey of economists suggested
the U.S. recession was easing but had probably not yet ended.
A weaker dollar also supported prices, making dollar-priced
metals cheaper for holders of other currencies.
Stocks of copper rose 1,800 tonnes to 265,950 tonnes.
Fears of tightness in the market eased as copper moved back
into contango, a discount for LME cash copper over the
three-month contract. Copper had in recent sessions traded in
backwardation, a premium for cash copper, respectively.
Aluminium was last bid at $1,710 from $1,708, earlier
hitting $1,747, its highest since Dec.1.
Zinc ended at $1,667 from $1,619. It hit a session
high of $1,675, its highest since mid-June. Battery material
lead hit more than a one week high at $1,735.50 but was
last bid at $1,704 from $1,670.
Tin closed at a near-two week high at $14,000 from
$13,240, while nickel touched a near-three week high at
$16,470 before closing at $16,225 from $16,125.
English to Spanish: What is Psychoanalysis? General field: Other Detailed field: Psychology
Source text - English What is Psychoanalysis?
Today psychoanalysis is very familiar for the wide public after it has been either rejected or adulated for a long time. But, as a paradox, the success achieved for example in the fifth decade, especially in Europe, estranged it from its essence.
Psychoanalysis spread everywhere but not only due to the interest incited by its therapeutical method. It could even say that therapy was shadowed by the virtues of the applied psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis applied in literature, sociology, anthropology and ethnology, religion and mythology, incited the interest of a public that had no inclination towards the clinical realm. Finally, psychoanalysis also distinguished itself through media using the most common means: radio, TV or film scripts. Famous movies put an emphasis on psychoanalysts. There was even a movie dedicated to Sigmund Freud which presented the incertitude years of his beginnings in psychoanalysis.
The multitude and complexity of the sources from which we receive today signals about psychoanalysis raise an important issue: psychoanalysis is no longer clearly defined in the eyes of the wide public. Today nobody knows for sure what psychoanalysis is and wants. Unfortunately no effort is made in order to clarify this crucial aspect So we must clearly state right from the beginning what psychoanalysis is. Then we will follow the other steps in order to penetrate the mystery of this strange subject-matter.
A Definition
Psychoanalysis designates concomitantly three things:
1. A method of mind investigation. And especially of the unconscious mind;
2. A therapy of neurosis inspired from the above method;
3. A new stand alone discipline who is based on the knowledge acquired from applying the investigation method and clinical experiences.
Consequently there is nothing vague in the definition of psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is a specific mind investigation technique and a therapy inspired from this investigation. I would say first and foremost therapy in order to emphasize even more that psychoanalysis implies no speculation, that it is closer to psychotherapy and farther from philosophy, art or culture in general.
The psychoanalytical science that we were mentioning at the third point comes to light from Freud's famous study called Totem and Taboo, in which he launches himself in social and anthropologic analysis relying on the knowledge extracted from applying psychoanalysis to neurosis therapy.
1. Un método de investigación de la mente. Y especialmente de la mente inconsciente;
2. Una terapia para la neurosis inspirada en el método descrito arriba;

Source text - English *US flu study confirms H1N1more serious in youth
* 45 percent of those hospitalized were under 18
* Diarrhea, vomiting in 42 percent of children with H1N1
* Quick drug treatment may save lives
By Maggie Fox, Health and Science Editor
WASHINGTON, Oct 8 (Reuters) - A study of people who became
seriously ill and died with the new pandemic swine flu confirms it is
hitting a younger population than the seasonal flu and causes often
different symptoms.
The study of 272 patients sick enough to be hospitalized showed
about 40 percent had diarrhea and vomiting -- usually rare with
seasonal flu -- and confirmed that quick treatment with antivirals
could save lives.
Dr. Seema Jain of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, who led the study, said the findings had informed the
CDC's advice on who should worry about the new H1N1 virus and when to
get treatment.
"Of the 272 patients we studied,
25 percent were admitted to an intensive care unit and 7 percent died,"
Jain's team wrote in the report, published in the New England Journal
of Medicine.
They said 45 percent were children under 18, just 5 percent were
over 65 and 73 percent had at least one underlying condition such as
asthma, diabetes, heart disease and pregnancy.
The soonest any of the patients who died were treated with an antiviral
drug was three days after they started showing symptoms, the
researchers found. Patients treated earlier all survived.
Roche AG's Tamiflu or GlaxoSmithKline's Relenza should be given within 48 hours of symptoms to be the most effective. But Jain said it was never too late to try.
"We really believe that antivirals should be started as soon as
possible in patients who are hospitalized,"
Jain said in a telephone
interview.
Even if patients do not have the
traditional risk factors for serious disease, they should get antiviral drugs if
they are sick enough to be hospitalized, Jain said.
FEVER AND COUGH
The cases her team examined represented about a quarter of the
hospitalized H1N1 patients in the United States between May 1 and June
9 of this year, before the epidemic was declared a pandemic by the
World Health Organization.
All the patients had fever and cough, 42 percent of the children
had diarrhea or vomiting, and all of the patients 65 and older had an
underlying condition. Some studies suggest people born before 1952
have some immunity to the H1N1 virus.
Of those whose height and weight were available, 29 percent were obese
and 26 percent were morbidly obese. Jain said the percentage of people
who were obese reflected the general U.S. population, but only 5
percent of the population is morbidly obese.
Some other studies have suggested that morbid obesity -- defined
as having a body mass index or BMI of 40 or higher -- may raise a
person's risk of serious complications and death from H1N1. Jain said
that question needed more study.
The study found that 7 percent of the hospitalized patients died, and all of those who died had been on ventilators. Those who died ranged in age from 1 year
to 57 years.
Those who died were more likely to have been short of breath, to
have pneumonia, a neurological disorder or acute respiratory distress
syndrome. They were also less likely to have received a seasonal flu
vaccine over the past year.
In its weekly report on death and disease, another CDC team found
that 41 percent of children aged 6 months to 2 years got a seasonal
flu vaccine last year, 32 percent of
2- to 4-year-olds, 20 percent of other children aged up to 17, 32 percent of young adults, 42 percent of 50- to 64-year-olds and 67 percent of those over 65 --
who have the highest risk of severe illness or death from seasonal
flu.

New England Journal of Medicine.
