I was brought up in the UK and have lived and worked in Colombia for several extended periods since 1986, firstly as a PhD student and subsequently running the Christian Aid office in the country for a number of years. I have also worked in the NGO sector in the UK in management roles, operating bilingually. I graduated in history from the University of Manchester and first started translating and interpreting (Spanish/English) in the late 1980s. I have worked for 30 years now as a translator, interpreter (simultaneous, consecutive, chuchotage), editor and proof-reader and I am familiar with the Spanish spoken across Latin America and in Spain. I specialise in development, social sciences, human rights, law, business and medical and scientific research. I have taught interpretation and translation at postgraduate level and I regularly produce texts in British, US and Canadian English. |
