English to Chinese: What a Foreign Student Should Do in the U.S.A General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.
Source text - English Studying in the United States, any foreign student is very likely to come upon something he finds it hard to adjust himself to,particularly as far as culture is concerned. He should, therefore, try all he can to get used to the American way of living with a view to yielding more fruitful results.
He should, first of all ,have a good command of both spoken and written English, which will enable him to fully express himself,Next,he must expose himself as often as possible to native students so as to learn of the values Americans hold.Aswe know, confining oneself in an ivory tower will make it hard to communicate wiht others, thus resulting in more misunderstandings.Last but not least,he must stay open-ninded,housing different viewpoints, dealing with people modestly. But in doing so, byno means should he downgrade his own culture.
"wen in Rome,do as the Romans do."This is what a foreign student should do to study in the United States.
Chinese to English: Introduction of Jiuzhaigou 九寨沟 General field: Other Detailed field: Tourism & Travel
Source text - Chinese
Translation - English Jiuzhaigou is located in the upper reaches of Minjiang River , administered by Nanping County, Abazhou City. It is named after the nine Tibetan villages: Panxin, Pengbu, Gugui, Panyazechagui, Heijiao Zhai, Shuzheng, Heye, and Zaru etc. According to "Nanping County History"’s record: "In Yangdongfan, the Strait is a few kilometers long, the river shows emerald green, which reflects the beautiful trees on the river bank." Therefore, this place is named Yangdong, but also known as Jade Sea. In 1982, it was approved as a national key scenic spots by the State Council, and was officially approved to be listed on UNESCO World Natural Heritage List in December 14, 1992.
Jiuzhaigou has always been famous for its unique environment fulfilled with primitive, mysterious atmosphere. Once upon a time, there was a brave and strong god of the mountains, named Dage, fell in love with a beautiful goodness Womosemo. Dage gave Semo a great self-made mirror made of wind and cloud, but it was broken into 108 pieces and turned into 108 sons of sea (highland lakes), thus became the 108 most beautiful scenes in Jiuzhaigou. Here in Jiuzhaigou, the mountains are snowish white, the green mountains and flowing rivers ,waterfalls and streams are even more attractive, the waterfalls looks like pearls falling from the sky, leaving humans endless admires on its magnificent beauty.
Jiuzhaigou has a total area of 620 square kilometers. The natural sceneries sufficiently describe the beauty of lakes, waterfalls, snowy mountains and forests; it is even fair to comment it as “the fairy tale world". Most of sites’ locations concentrate on the three main trench of a "Y" shape, with 50 km length on both latitude and longitude. According to expert’s inspection, this type of highland lake was formed during the new tectonic movement on earth, due to the earth crust’s drastic changes, uneven mountain uplift and river erosions. It has four categories: Sub-glacial erosion, karst depressions blocked lake, landslides dammed lake, landslides and avalanches dammed lake. Their common features are: clean water, deep and quiet, connected to one another by various waterfalls. While the smallest is around half an acre, the largest can go as far as thousands of acres. There grows old trees, unique and rare plants on lakeshore, with obvious changes during the four seasons. The largest lake, called Long Sea, is 7 kilometers long, altitude 3,000 meters, the water is as green as emerald. People can ice-skate in winter or sail during summer time. The Wuhua Sea, located nearby, can reflect sunlight into a lot of beautiful colors because of large amount of sediments such as mineral, algae and dead leaves. It is a truly colorful lake.

Source text - English “Reinvesting When Terrifi ed.” That
theme was developed a few weeks later for me when the penny dropped: the extreme stimulus and moral hazard of recent quarters resembled the stimulative third year of a Presidential Cycle. Indeed, it seems to have turned this usually restrictive Year One into a giant Year Three effect. The market in Year Three typically outperforms its average by 12 percentage points predicated on much
less desperation exhibited by the authorities than we had this year. A notionally independent Fed has to be at least somewhat discreet in its friendly support of an existing administration in Year Three. While in Zurich on April 1 (you get what you pay for on April 1), under the impact of that penny dropping, I told Finanz und Wirtschaft that “Der S&P 500 Index kann rasch auf 1100 steigen.” That is, the S&P could move rapidly to 1100. I actually remember saying that the move could be between 1000 and 1100, but journalists hate wasting space.
Translation - Chinese “在市场恐慌时再入市。”

Source text - Japanese
Translation - English The three essential factors that we use to create emotions include: the way we use our body; the way we picture visual image, and then the way to converse internally. For example, in order to feel stressed, our body will move in a way that we can feel the stress. On the other hand, in order not to feel any stress, that is, there exist a way so that we can use our body so that stress cannot be sensed even if we want to.
