Bio
I am a former professor and editor, now a full-time translator who has done 32 books from French and German: literature, philosophy, biography, history, cultural studies, literary theory, political science, archaeology, and popular science. I have worked for both leading university presses (Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, Cornell, MIT, etc.) and trade publishers (HarperCollins, Grove/Atlantic, Harcourt Brace, etc.), and won two major translation prizes, one in French and one in German. I offer a quick, professional service (for most books, between 2 and 3 months); I have never missed a deadline. For full details, please see my webpage.

I have translated 32 books and 30 articles from French and German. My translation of Marcel Benabou's "Jacob, Menahem, et Mimoun" won a National Jewish Book Council translation prize in 1999, and my translation of Harald Weinrich's "Lethe: Kunst und Kritik des Vergessens" won the MLA's Scaglione translation prize in 2005. I have worked intensively with most of the authors I've translated.
My background in philosophy (B.A., summa cum laude) and foreign languages and literatures (Ph.D., Johns Hopkins) and long experience in scholarship and editing a scholarly jouranl (Comparative Literature)have well prepared me for translation projects in a wide variety of fields. I welcome new challenges.
