Source text - English I. This case involves dangerously defective batteries sold in the United States, including New Mexico, by LG Chem, Ltd. (“LG Chem Ltd.”), a subsidiary of South Korean conglomerate LG. LG Chem Ltd. manufactures and distributes lithium-ion batteries through its subsidiary, LG Chem America, Inc. (“LG Chem America”). Specifically, this case involves lithium-ion batteries used in vaping devices (also known as “electronic cigarettes,” “e-cigarettes,” “e-cigs,” and/or “vapes”). The device which is the subject of this action is manufactured by Deathwish Modz and distributed to Just Vape, Inc. which sold thee-cigarette and LG lithium-ion battery to Plaintiff Jordan Baca's friend, Mel DeHerrera.
