EBS, general
EBS is an electronic system that controls the complete braking cycle, as opposed to ABS which only reacts when the wheels lock. Electronic control means that the brakes are applied more rapidly resulting in a shorter braking distance. During normal braking EBS distributes the braking power equally between the wheels. During heavy braking, the braking power is distributed so that the vehicle?s stability remains as good as possible. Vehicles with EBS are equipped with disc brakes on all wheels. Refer to the section on disc brakes for more information about disc brakes.
WARNING!
Superstructures, conversions and re-parameterisation of the control system or steering column affect the control system. Contact workshop.
NOTE:
It is normal for the EBS system not to apply the retarder when braking for the first few times after reloading. When the vehicle has been stationary for more than 30 seconds, or when the power is switched on, the vehicle will detect that the load has changed. If the load weight has been changed, the EBS system will not apply the retarder when braking for the first 3-6 times. This is normal.
ABS and TC
The ABS and TC (Traction Control) functions are integrated into the EBS system. For more information, refer to the section on ABS/TC.
ESP control
IMPORTANT!
A tractor which is equipped with ESP control must only have one semi-trailer attached. It is not permitted for other trailers to be attached behind a semi-trailer.
The ESP control tries to prevent the vehicle from skidding or being overturned. The ESP control activates the service brake on the relevant wheel and activates the brakes on the trailer and/or reduces the engine torque. Some vehicles are programmed so that the ESP control can be switched off by pressing the Traction Control Off switch.
WARNING!
Even if your vehicle is equipped with ESP control, the vehicle cannot cope with every possible situation. We strongly advise against, for example, taking sharp bends at high speeds. Drive carefully when the vehicle is loaded in such a way that the vehicle has a high centre of gravity or if the vehicle has some form of moving load, e.g. a tank only partly filled or the transportation of animals.
WARNING!
You must not drive the vehicle on tracks with banked bends when the ESP control is activated.
Regulating power in the trailer connection
Regulating the power in the trailer connection provides automatic brake adaptation between the tractor unit and trailer. After braking 3-6 times, regulation of the power in the trailer connection begins and it then constantly calculates how high the brake pressure to the trailer should be.
Back-up system
A back-up system is automatically engaged if a serious fault is detected in the EBS system. The back-up system is a normal compressed air controlled system.
WARNING!
When the back-up system is engaged, all electronic functions, e.g. ABS; TC, DTC, ESP control and control of power to the trailer connection, are disengaged.
Rotational inertia control
Vehicles equipped with EBS also have rotational inertia control. For example, when changing down on a slippery road surface if the vehicle is lightly loaded, the rear wheels can stop rotating due to engine braking. The EBS system then requests an increase in engine speed so that the rear wheels start rotating again.
Brake blending
Brake blending means that the wheel brake and retarder are coordinated to obtain optimum braking effect.
Wake-up signal
If the brake pedal is depressed when the power is switched off, the EBS system is activated via a wake-up signal. When the brake pedal is depressed, the EBS system is activated with limited functionality.
Wear control
The braking power is distributed via wear control so that the disc brakes are evenly worn. This means that the wear parts on the disc brakes can often be renewed at the same time on all wheels. During heavy braking, vehicle stability is given higher priority than even wear.
Preventing activation of differential locks
On some vehicles the EBS system prevents rear axle differentials from being activated if the difference between the axle wheel speeds is too great. This is done by disconnecting the power supply to the switch for the rear axle differential lock when the wheel speeds are different for all wheels.
IMPORTANT!
The differential lock protection only protects rear axle differentials. For vehicles with all-wheel drive and vehicles equipped with several differential locks, the other differential locks are not protected. Preventing activation of differential locks is an additional safety function. For more information about how and when to use differential locks, please read the section on differential locks.

Elektronska kontrola kočnica omogućava brže aktiviranje kočnica, a time i manji put kočenja.
To je normalna pojava.
ABS i TC sistem
Sistemi ABS i TC (kontrola proklizavanja) objedinjeni su EBS sistemom. Za detaljnije informacije pogledajte odeljak o ABS/TC sistemima.
ESP kontrola
Regulacija inercije obrtnog kretanja
Usklađivanje radne kočnice i retardera
