Bio
I am a native speaker of English, born in the United States and raised here as well as in the south of England. After achieving Geneva's International Baccalaureate, I went on to complete a propedeuse degree in linguistic studies at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, then earned an MA in German and English studies at the University of Siegen in Germany, writing my final thesis on the translation of Flemish and German historical texts. I was active for several years as a Business English and translation instructor at the Siegerland Language Academy and elsewhere in North Rhine-Westphalia before returning to the United States, where I now work as a freelance translator and proofreader, dividing my time between New York City and Hampshire, England.

I specialize in marketing/advertising and the bulk of my work is in market research. Just over the past four years I have translated nearly 1 million words in marketing survey responses alone, offering very competitive rates for these texts, which include everything from the tourism and fashion industries to food and beverage and pharmaceuticals.

In addition to business-based translation, I also provide academic and historical translations and have worked with texts from the mid-twelfth century to the present.

Past projects include, but are not limited to, the following fields:

Advertising
Alternative Energy
Art & Design/Architecture
Construction
Culinary Studies/Gastronomy/Restaurant menus and cookbooks
Environmental remediation
Financial
Historical
Hotels/Hospitality Industry
Journalism
Legal
Literary/Book Translations
Marketing/Market Research
Mechanics/Engineering
Political Science: government reports & political briefings
Tourism & Travel
Traffic Safety

I divide my time between the UK and USA and am currently working from the US, at GMT -5.
