I will not participate in the race to the bottom. We are all in this together so don't think you are clever because you got a job for 2 cents per word. And don't be surprised if somebody beats you with a 1.5 cent offer. Protect yourself and others.
I have worked as a translator and interpreter from English into Polish and from Polish into English since 1985. Having graduated from what was at that time considered the best English language university program in Poland, I was also prepared methodologically to translate and interpret, as my year was the first one in the history of the program to go through formal interpreting and translation seminars.
That was in 1985. Since then I graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, with a Juris Doctor degree, worked for law firms, consulting companies, focused on corporate finance and private equity. However, I continued working on translating assignments, and when conditions allowed, did interpreting jobs, from simultaneous interpreting at the World Bank and the IMF to interpreting for President Clinton. I moved back to Poland in 1995 and became professionally involved in asset management services. I returned to full-time translation and interpreting in 2009.
I specialize in technical translations, including legal (contracts, intellectual property (incl. patents)), medical and life sciences, environment and ecology, energy, mining, real estate, social sciences, financial services, engineering, IT, and defense. I provide voiceover and transcription services, as well localization, QC and general editing.
