Due to cultural differences and lack of knowledge of the education system, parents may feel that it is the school’s duty to teach the child.
Schools should recognise that involving parents can raise the academic level of a child that will last throughout his/her life.
Similarly, the parents should be informed of this, and realise that it is a joint effort between the school and home.
Schools should ask themselves if there are enough opportunities for parents of Ethnic Minorities to be involved in their children’s education, if not why?

Devido a diferencas culturais e falta de conhecimento do sistema de educacao, pais podem pensar que e responsabilidade da escola ensinar a crianca.
As escolas deveriam reconhecer que envolver os pais pode aumentar o nivel academico de uma crianca que ira durar para toda a sua vida.
Da mesma maneira, os pais deveriam ser informados sobre isto, e compreender que e um esforco em conjunto entre escola e casa.
As escolas deveriam se perguntar se existem oportunidades suficiente para os pais de menores etnias se envolverem na educacao de seus filhos, e se nao o por que?

We know that this is a special time for all the family, and that being part of a Reception Class may be a new experience for you, but it will build on the strong foundations that you have already put in place at home, in nursery and maybe also with your childminder. Although it will be different, our school looks forward to working in partnership with you and to the contribution you can make to your child's education.
Please be reassured that you and your child will be nurtured and cared for throughout your time at our school. Our teachers are dedicated to helping develop enthusiastic learners, and we have a Head Teacher who leads the team, including Governors, with vision, warmth and a real understanding of the pressures facing many of us as we try to juggle complex lives.
