French to English: Understanding the risk of radon in your municipality General field: Other Detailed field: Government / Politics
Translation - English Category 3
The municipalities under a Category 3 risk of radon are those that, at least in part, contain geological formations whose uranium contents are estimated to be higher than those of other geological formations. The particular formations in question are those consisting of granitic mountain massifs (the Armoricain Massif, the Massif Central, French Guiana...), certain volcanic formations (the Massif Central, French Polynesia, Mayotte), and also certain sandstone and black shale formations.
These formations, which are richer in Uranium, contain a significantly higher percentage of buildings presenting elevated radon concentrations than the rest of the area. Therefore, the results of the National Measurement Campaign for Metropolitan France show that over 40% of buildings situated in these areas exceed 100 Bq.m-3 and over 6% exceed 400 Bq.m-3.
Note: In the case of municipalities situated in these significant areas, as is the case for certain overseas areas in particular, the formations concerned sometimes occupy only a limited portion of the municipality. In these cases, the municipality mapping does not represent the actual area potentially affected by radon, but rather the probability that there is a source, however localised, of exposure to elevated radon in the municipality. In order to view the different zones within the municipality and better understand the actual risk of radon in a given area, it is advisable to refer to mapping that reflects the contours of geological formations.

On vacation in Saint Gervais for 4 days, and 2 evenings weren't enough to try everything. A very good restaurant; plenty of Savoyard specialities and other crepes make for excellent cuisine. The service was just as good with a charming, smiley, and friendly waitress.

A lovely discovery during our first stay in Haute-Savoie. Since then, it has been an essential visit. A small, very nice restaurant, decorated in the style of a chalet, very cozy. The dishes are very, very tasty and filling, and there is not a bad word to say about the service! Having tried the outdoor seating area, the nearby road isn't too much of a problem...The restaurant fills up quickly, so don't delay when mealtime approaches if you want to get a seat!

Nice atmosphere, and the crepes are nice... but not exceptional! There's a variety of dishes and there are also Savoyard options. The decor is nice. Not too expensive.

Bio
I am a multilingual professional with a passion for language and communication. I am a native speaker of both English and Russian, and I have a high level of French. I also hold a degree in Drama and French from the University of Bristol, which has given me a strong foundation in academic language. Having worked with a variety of source material, I am experienced in proofreading & translation, particularly into English. My experience includes translating witness statements, legal documents, short stories, and news articles. As a copywriter and editor, I have written blogs for a plumbing company and edited travel guides, among other freelance roles. I am happy to tailor my services to your needs.
I also have an extensive background in the arts, having been an actress and performer for over 10 years.
I grew up in a first generation immigrant community, so I am particularly aware of the specific kinds of errors that arise within translations from Russian into English. Moreover, I have lived in the US and the UK for 13 and 17 years, respectively. Therefore I am aware of colloquialisms, spelling differences, and cultural references present in both forms of English.
Alongside translation and proofreading, I also teach Russian and English online. I enjoy this work very much because it allows me to speak to people from all over the world and from all kinds of different backgrounds. As a result, I continue to learn about the multitude of fascinating cultures, traditions, and languages that have developed throughout history.
I manage my own website, marketing, and touring for my performance work.
Alongside this, I have many years of experience in administrative support in HR, comms, and CRM.
