Bio
Languages, the barriers they create between cultures as well as the bridges they produce to connect such different peoples and cultures, have always been my passion. I studied German for five years, and Italian for three years at secondary school. Then I went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Italian at the University of Malta. I also participated in the annual Laboratorio Internazionale della Comunicazione held in Gemona del Friuli by the Università degli Studi di Udine in collaboration with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, where for a whole month, lecturers and students from all around the world get to live together and interact with each other by means of the Italian Language.

I am currently in the final stages of a Master of Arts course in translation studies at the University of Malta, which I am reading on part-time basis by research. In addition to this I am also following a part-time course for a proof-reading certificate (Iċ-Ċertifikat fil-qari tal-provi) at the University of Malta. My studies in such a stimulating environment, helped me develop personal qualities like good communication skills and effective teamwork as well as gaining hands-on experience in translation and proof-reading.

Furthermore, I completed an in-service training period at the web unit of the Directorate General for Translation (DGT) at the European Commission. It started in October 2011 and ended in February 2012. During these five months I had the opportunity to exercise my skills as a translator, and to develop hands-on experience in an EU institution, where I have gained a good command of several CAT tools, and I also developed very good time-management skills. I would also like to add that I am very proactive, dynamic and meticulous.
