English to Spanish: BRIEF REPORT Measuring Emotional Intelligence With the MSCEIT V2.0 General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.
Source text - English Issues of Factor Structure
The factor structure of a test indicates how many entities it plausibly measures. In this specific case, it indicates how many dimensions of EI the test is “pick- ing up”—one unified dimension, many related dimen- sions, or something else. We believe that the domain of EI is well-described by one-, two-, and four- oblique (correlated) factor models, as well as other equivalent models. If the MSCEIT V2.0 shows a simi- lar structure to the MEIS for both expert and general scoring, it would strengthen the argument that the theory of EI we use works across tests. Using the standardization sample, we performed confirmatory factor analyses of the full scale MSCEIT V2.0, testing one-, two-, and four-factor models to examine the range of permissible factor structures for representing the EI domain.
Spanish to English: Gestión de redes y servicios NGN/4G General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Telecom(munications)
Translation - English Driven by the necessity to support a large variety of personalized mobile devices, context rich in multimedia services and applications, the fourth generation (4G) of the mobile communications systems has been the subject of development for researchers and providers worldwide. Without a doubt, the growing introduction of access networks for mobile communication will increase the connectivity capacity of the mobile users. Connectivity characteristics will differ according to the access network’s technology, which will incite the necessity of a more effective, robust, and efficiently integrated management, making it necessary to incorporate new functional areas to the traditional management model, which are outlined in the present article.
English to Spanish: Evaluation of pulp and paper making characteristics of elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum) and switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) General field: Science Detailed field: Paper / Paper Manufacturing
Source text - English The two grass species used, elephant grass (cv SDPN3) and switchgrass (cv. Cave-in-Rock), are cultivated in Southern Africa both experimentally and for animal production, and are being considered as energy production crops. Material used in this study was harvested from ongoing biomass production trials at the end of the growing season. Air dried samples of the grasses were cut into about 2 cm long pieces and washed with water to remove adhering soil particles, air dried, and stored with less than 15% moisture content. Subsamples of the grasses, 200 g (air dry weight), were pulped using a 14% active alkali (AA) and 20% sulphidity using a 5:1 liquid to grass ratio, excluding moisture, following Madakadze et al. (1999) procedure. This was done in 2-L rotating bomb digesters at a cooking temperature of 160°C, being allowed 60 min to reach cooking temperature and another 60 min at that temperature. The cooked grasses were disintegrated in a Cowles mixer (Louis Allis Co., Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA) for two minutes followed by thorough washing with tap water.
