MA Translation and Interpreting (French>English) – ITI-RI, Strasbourg, France (mention bien)
BA (Hons) French literature – University of Stellenbosch, South Africa (cum laude)
BA (Law) – University of Stellenbosch, South Africa
5 years of professional experience as a translator and proofreader (excluding studies)
After graduating from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa with a BA degree in Law and a BA (Hons) degree in French literature, I was granted a bursary by the French government to complete a Master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting at the Institute for Translators, Interpreters and International Relations (ITI-RI) in Strasbourg, France.
Since then, I worked at UNESCO for one year before joining the team of in-house translators and proofreaders at a large translation company in Paris. This experience enabled me to work in a team environment under the pressure of tight deadlines and demanding clients, in addition to working on projects covering a wide variety of fields and requiring extensive research. After three and a half years of in-house experience, I decided to work exclusively on a freelance basis.
With a background in law and specialised in literary translation, I work on translation projects in various fields: editorial, marketing, technical, telecommunications, international relations, IT and more. Although I translate mainly from French into English, I am also able to translate into and from Afrikaans. Living in France since 2005, I have dual French and South African citizenship. |
