I am soon to be a graduate of New York University with an Honors degree in Linguistics. I specialized in historical and contact linguistics.
My honors thesis was on a linguistic contact situation in Pomerania, which required extensive consulting and translating of Polish linguistic and historical works, as the English body of work on the subject is all but bare.
As I am a recent college graduate, I have no formal training in translation, but my experience in informal settings is extensive, as for several years I have translated articles from Polish to English and vice versa for practice, and read much on the theory of translation, with particular emphasis on the works of Umberto Eco. |
