I am a hardworking and reliable French-English translator with a passion for languages and translation.
Although a relative newcomer to the industry, I am entering with a high level of linguistic and translating competence. Not only have I studied French to degree level, but I have also lived and worked for several years in a number of francophone countries. This has enabled me to develop the excellent source-language knowledge base that is necessary for high-quality translation.
Furthermore, I recently graduated from a Masters course in Translation Studies at the University of Manchester (UK). Here I specialised in the translation of financial and tourism-industry texts, and was involved in group projects which simulated the working conditions of the world of freelance translation. I also developed an interest in literary translation and the transcreation of advertising material.
I am trained in the use of the CAT-tools ‘Wordfast’ and ‘OmegaT’, and I have good general ICT skills. I have used a range of computer applications throughout my previous professional and academic work, and I am able to adapt to new programmes quickly.
I translate an average of 2000 words a day and generally charge £60 per 1000 words. Exact rates vary according to the specific project.
I look forward to hearing from you. |
