German to English: newspaper article on Irish trad concert General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Music

Translation - English Bad Neustadt (new) It was just an unbelieveable moment: you walk in the door and feel like you are no longer in Bad Neustadt but in a remote Irish village, in a rustic, cozy pub. Around a table traditional Irish music is being played by real Irish people, that fits in perfectly with the restaurant's athmosphere. The formation calls themself Oilean. They came to Germany in an intereseting way. At Easter Frank Helmerich from Bad Königshofen went to Ireland - and to a pub of course. He was fascinated by the traditional songs in true Irish style, got in contact with the seven musicians and spontanously invited them to Germany. To turn this into something really good, he looked for fitting locations that would suit the Oilean-Sound. He succeeded and found performance locations in Bad Neustadt, Bad Königshofen and Aschaffenburg and also organised accomodation in private homes. In the "Backöfele" he passed around his cap, hoping to collect enough to cover flight costs. We didn't count, but with all the rapture caused by the Irish rhythm and catchy songs like "Dirty old town" (made famous by Roger Whittaker), he must have collected a well-deserved pay.
