Burcin Tetik was born in Istanbul in 1985. She attended the Austrian High school in Istanbul where she learned German and later on continued her studies in literature in Bogazici University. As a double-major student she graduated from Turkish and English literature departments and spent one semester at the Vienna University through the Erasmus program. Since 2010 she has been living in Berlin where she is getting her master’s degree in English Studies at the Freie University and occasionally works as a freelance translator and editor. Apart from her academic research, she is engaged in creative writing and writes for a Turkish feminist magazine. She has also written and co-directed a play in the “Berlin fairy-tales” project of the English Theatre group of the Freie University last semester.
