Source text - English When we launched the seventh generation Civic, it changed owners ideas about hatchbacks. Instead of designing a body shape and then fitting people into it afterwards, we’d started inside.
We worked out how much space passengers needed to travel in complete comfort, then built the car around them. It was a big idea then.
It still is now.
Designing a car from the inside out meant challenging some fundamental ideas.
By developing a flexible plastic fuel tank,
we were able to move the exhaust and suspension systems to the rear of the car.
This allowed us to remove the central tunnel and lower the entire floor, to give class-leading space and legroom in the rear. Making the suspension more compact and repositioning it right at the corners of the chassis makes the cabin longer and wider, creating more space for people. And because it reduces intrusion into the boot space, there’s more room for their luggage, too.
Mounting the gearshift in the dash brings two major benefits. Firstly, because the centre console isn’t full of gearbox as it would be in most other cars, we’ve been able to devote it entirely to practical storage space. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, it’s the most natural place for the gearshift to be, positioning it at the ideal reach angle and distance for relaxed, comfortable driving. We could have taken the easy option, and simply built a bigger car. But instead, we’ve applied innovative thinking and made clever use of space.
The result is a spacious, practical interior that benefits driver and passengers alike.

Diseñar un coche empezando por el interior supuso poner en cuestión ideas básicas.
Al diseñar un depósito de combustible de plástico flexible, pudimos desplazar los sistemas de suspensión y escape a la parte trasera del coche.
Esto nos permitió eliminar el túnel central y bajar todo el piso para proporcionar un espacio general y para las piernas muy amplio en la parte trasera. Haciendo la suspensión más compacta y ubicándola en las esquinas del chasis, la cabina resulta más larga y ancha, lo que crea más espacio para los ocupantes. Y al reducir la intrusión en el maletero, existe más espacio para el equipaje.
Montar el cambio de velocidades en el salpicadero proporciona dos ventajas importantes. La primera es que la caja de cambios no ocupa toda la consola central como en la mayoría de los coches, por lo que hemos podido convertirla en un práctico espacio de almacenaje. La segunda, y quizá la más importante, es que ésta es la ubicación más natural para el cambio de velocidades, con la distancia y ángulo de alcance perfectos para una conducción cómoda y relajada. Podíamos haber escogido la opción más fácil y fabricar sencillamente un coche de mayor tamaño. Sin embargo, hemos aplicado ideas innovadoras y hemos aprovechado mejor el espacio.
El resultado es un interior práctico y espacioso que beneficia tanto al conductor como a los pasajeros.

coordination of work teams, writing style manuals, revision of translations.
Translation of more than 45 repair and user manuals for several automotive companies ─ GM, Toyota,
Renault, Nissan. Translation of brochures, internal reports, marketing. Chief Translator for Renault
technical documentation into Spanish (6 months).
Translation of many technical and user manuals for different tools ─ Gribetz quilting machines, Mark Andy
presses (XP5000, LP3000,4150), Industrial Scientific multigas detection systems, Komax rotary printers,
Trivex lenses, drilling machines, polishing machines, chain saws. Translation of air conditioning manuals
(Mitsubishi Electrics, MovinCool).
Translation of CAD software manuals ─ Different training manuals for Solidworks Corporation and Cosmos.
