Source text - Bengali ট্রাইব্যুনালে বিচারের রায় শেষে অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে প্রিজন সেলে ফেরার পথে গোলাম আযম বার-কয়েক কবিতা আবৃত্তির মতো করে শুধু বলছিলেন, 『৯১ বছর বয়স, ৯০ বছর সাজা- ধনে ধান্যে পুষ্পেভরা আমাদেরই বসুন্ধরা।』 এ ছাড়া প্রিজন সেলে পৌঁছানো পর্যন্ত আর কোন কথা বলেননি তিনি। প্রিজন সেলে ফিরেই খানিকটা অসুস্থবোধ করেন তিনি। সে সময়ই তাকে চিকিৎসা দেন তার তত্ত্বাবধায়ক চিকিৎসক বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব
মেডিকেল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মেডিসিন অনুষদের ডিন অধ্যাপক এ বি এম আবু আবদুল্লাহ। রায়ের পর গতকাল সারা দিন বেশ বিমর্ষ ছিলেন তিনি। অন্যদিন তাকে যতটা উচ্ছল দেখা যায়, গতকাল তা দেখা যায়নি। অন্যদিন তিনি প্রিজন সেলের সামনে কর্তব্যরত নিরাপত্তাকর্মীদের ডাকাডাকি করলেও গতকাল কাউকে ডাকেননি। তবে সূত্রমতে, ভেঙে পড়ার মতো অবস্থাও দেখা যায়নি ৯১ বছর বয়সী গোলাম আযমকে। প্রিজন সেলে আসার পর থেকেই তাকে দেখা গেছে শক্ত মনের মানুষ। কোন ঘটনাই তাকে বেশি বিচলিত করে না। সব সময়ই তিনি স্বাভাবিক থাকেন। রায়ের দিন অধ্যাপক গোলাম আযমকে ট্রাইব্যুনালে নেয়ার বিষয়ে তাকে তার চিকিৎসক এ বি এম আবদল্লাহ চিকিৎসা নোটে লেখেন, প্রিজন সেলের ৩/এ বেডে ভর্তি রোগী গোলাম আযম অ্যাম্বুলেন্সে করে হুইল চেয়ারে বসে আদালতে যাওয়ার জন্য শারীরিকভাবে ফিট। চিকিৎসকের ওই নোট পাওয়ার পর কারাগার কর্তৃপক্ষ বিষয়টি অন্য সংস্থাগুলোকে জানান। ওই দিন সকাল ৯টা ৪৫ মিনিটে পুলিশের ইন্সপেক্টর আবদুল হাইয়ের নেতৃত্বে র্যাব, ডিএসবি ও এনএসই』র সদস্যদের উপস্থিতিতে তাকে ট্রাইব্যুনালে নেয়ার জন্য কারাগার কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছ থেকে বুঝে নেন। আবার আদালত শেষে ইন্সপেক্টর আবদুল হাই তাকে প্রিজন সেলে কারা কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে বুঝিয়ে দেন। বিকাল ৪টায় গোলাম আযমের ওয়ারেন্ট এসে পৌঁছায় কারা কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে। অধ্যাপক গোলাম আযম প্রিজন সেলে পৌঁছানোর সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ডা. অধ্যাপক আবু আবদুল্লাহ』র নেতৃত্বে মেডিকেল টিম তার শারীরিক অবস্থার পরীক্ষা শুরু করে। চিকিৎসকদের সূত্রে জানা গেছে, ওই সময়ের পরীক্ষায় তার শারীরিক কোন বড় রোগের সন্ধান মিলেনি। তবে কিছু দুর্বলতা দেখা গেছে। প্রায় ১৯ মাস ধরে গোলাম আযম প্রিজন সেলে চিকিসাধীন। ওই দীর্ঘ সময়ের পরীক্ষায় তার বড় কোন রোগ ধরা পড়েনি। ৯১ বছর বয়সেও তার ডায়াবেটিস নেই, কিডনি ভাল, হার্টের কোন অসুবিধা নেই। চিকিৎসকরা জানিয়েছেন, তিনি নিয়মমাফিক জীবনযাপন করেন, নিয়মিত খাওয়া-দাওয়া করেন, নামাজ আদায় করেন, কোরআন তিলাওয়াত করেন, রোজা রাখেন। রমজান উপলক্ষে তার খাদ্যতালিকার কিছুটা পরিবর্তন করা হয়েছে। তবে ওই পরিবর্তন করা হয়েছে তার চাহিদা অনুসারে। প্রিজন সেলে তার খাদ্যতালিকায় দেখা গেছে, তিনি গতকাল সেহরিতে খেয়েছেন চিকন চালের ভাত, সবজি ও মুরগির মাংস। ইফতারিতে বেশি কিছু খাননি। সরবত ও খেজুর দিয়ে ইফতারি করে নামাজ আদায় করেই রাতের খাবার হিসেবে খেয়েছেন চিকন চালের ভাত, করলা ভাজি, মুরগির মাংস ও ফল। বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিব মেডিকেল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপপরিচালক ডা. মোখলেসুজ্জামান হিরু মানবজমিনকে জানান, প্রিজন সেলে গোলাম আযম ভাল আছেন। তাকে মোটেও চিন্তিত দেখা যায়নি। তিনি নিয়মিত স্বাভাবিক খাবার গ্রহণ করছেন।

Until he arrived at the prison cell, he would not say anything else. Having returned to his prison cell, he felt unwell for a while. At that time he was treated by the doctor who was in charge of him, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Professor A.B.M. Abu Abdullah. After the verdict yesterday he was considerably downcast throughout the day. He did not appear as lively as on other days. On other days he would often summon the security officers on duty, but today he did not call anyone.

Abdullah noted on the subject of taking Professor Ghulam Azam to the tribunal, "The patient occupying prison cell 3/A Ghulam Azam is physically fit to travel by ambulance to the court while sitting in a chair." After receiving the doctor's note the prison authorities notified the other institutions. At 9.45am that day under Police Inspector Abdul Hay, members of RAB, DSB and NSE were briefed by the prison authorities on taking him to the tribunal. At 4pm Ghulam Azam's warrant reached the prison authorities. As soon as Professor Ghulam Azam had reached the prison cell, the medical team under Dr. Abu Abdullah began to take tests of his physical health. According to the doctors, at that time there were no signs of serious illness. However, he did seem weak. Ghulam Azam has been under treatment for nearly 19 months in his prison cell. During this lengthy period tests have detected no serious illnesses. Despite being 91 years old he does not have diabetes, his kidneys are fine, and he has no heart problems.Those treating him stated that "He has a disciplined lifestyle, and eats in a routine manner, performs his prayers, recites the Qur'an, and fasts. As it is Ramadan, his diet has been improved. This improvement was made according to his needs. Yesterday morning in his prison cell, for the morning meal he ate small grain rice, vegetables and chicken. For Iftar he did not eat much. After having his evening meal with lime juice and dates and doing his prayers, he had as his dinner small grain rice, bitter melon, chicken and fruit. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Assistant Director Dr. Mokhles-uz-Zaman Hiru told the Manabzamin [Bangladeshi newspaper], "Ghulam Azam is fine in his prison cell. There is nothing to worry about him at all. He is taking food regularly just as normal."
