Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival (Chunjie 春节), is the most important holiday in China. Since it follows the lunar calendar, Chinese New Year falls on a different day every year. Generally Chinese New Year falls between mid-January and late-February and every year has its own zodiac animal. This year it will be on January 31st and will be the year of the horse (ma 马).
The Spring Festival marks the end of the winter and the beginning of the spring. It lasts 15 days and it is a very important holiday because the whole family gathers together to eat, play, talk, visit their relatives and enjoy fireworks. Many people go to the temple (Buddhist, Taoist or popular religion) to pray for their ancestors and to ask for a wealthy, happy and healthy year. Children receive money, candy and fruit, just like we do for Christmas. Chinese New Year can in fact be compared to our Christmas, because all people are on vacation and go back home to spend time with their familie.

Il capodanno cinese, o Festival di Primavera, (Chunjie 春节), è la festività cinese più importante dell’anno e segue il calendario lunare, quindi ogni anno cade in un giorno diverso, in genere tra gennaio e febbraio. Inoltre ogni anno ha il proprio segno (12 animali). Quest’anno il capodanno cinese sarà il 31 gennaio, quando inizierà l’anno del cavallo (cavallo: ma 马).
Il capodanno cinese segna la fine dell’inverno e l’inizio della primavera. I festeggiamenti durano ben due settimane e le famiglie si riuniscono per mangiare, giocare, chiacchierare, visitare i parenti e si godono fuochi d’artificio. Molte persone si recano anche al tempio (buddhista, taoista o popolare) per pregare per i propri avi e per avere un anno ricco e sereno. I bambini ricevono soldi, caramelle e frutta, proprio come noi a Natale. Il capodanno cinese può infatti essere paragonato alle nostre feste natalizie perché tutti i cinesi sono in vacanza e tornano a casa per trascorrere questo periodo con le loro famiglie. |

Plastic surgery is very popular among young and older people and is a very normal beauty treatment in South Korea. According to Koreans, plastic surgery can help them improve their self-confidence and even get a good job. I coreani sono ossessionati dalla chirurgia plastica. Vogliono occhi grandi e rotondi, nasi all'occidentale e lineamenti delicati. Uomini e donne amano la bellezza occidentale, ma vogliono anche essere belli ed avere lineamenti armonici. La chirurgia plastica va alla grande in Corea del Sud e tra i suoi clienti vi sono persone di tutte le età e strato sociale. Secondo i coreani la chirurgia plastica può aiutare ad accrescere la propria fiducia ed addirittura a trovare un buon lavoro. Inoltre la chirurgia coreana è all'avanguardia, molto sicura e non troppo costosa. |
