Twenty years in the translation industry have convinced me that an effective translator needs to be both an expert in translation, but also someone well-versed in her clients’ industry as well as an advocate for clients’ goals.
My translation experience has straddled two categories: legal and technology.

TRANSLATOR AS A BUSINESS PARTNER

In business translation, whatever the text, the main goal is to attain the overarching aim of making a profit, thus documents should be carefully structured and succinctly worded – the terms accurate, the syntax perfect. If a translator behaves as a partner, one who is invested in the business process, the deal – and the collaboration – are always a success.
