Source text - French L'Enfant et les Sortilèges repose sur un étrange paradoxe: Maurice Ravel drape sa « fantaisie lyrique » d'une parure orchestrale à la chatoyance et à l'opulence inversement proportionnelle à la dimension intimiste du livret de Colette (l'histoire d'une initiation, du passage du monde de l'enfance à celui des adultes) et convoque à cet effet un effectif instrumental étonnamment imposant pour une pièce à la brièveté fort inhabituelle à l'opéra (moins de cinquante minutes de musique). Ce parti-pris m'a semblé autoriser, à l'occasion d'une commande de l'Opéra de Lyon et d'une production pilotée par Eric Tappy, Patrice Cautier et Moshe Leiser en 1986, une version qui, en cherchant à préserver l'essentiel du discours musical, épouse des contours sonores au plus près du texte de Colette.
Translation - English L'Enfant et les Sortilèges is based on a strange paradox: Maurice Ravel cloaks his “lyrical fantasy” in an opulent and sparkling orchestral finery inversely proportional to the intimate quality of Colette’s libretto, (the story of a rite of passage, the transition from childhood to adulthood). To achieve this, he calls on an astonishingly large number of instruments for such an unusually short operatic work (less than fifty minutes of music). It seemed to me that this musical stance authorized a version, (for the occasion of the Lyon Opera’s commission for a production to be directed by Eric Tappy, Patrice Cautier and Moshe Leiser in 1986) which, while preserving the essential musical language, adopted a sonorous form far closer to Colette’s text.

Source text - French Cette mission vise à déterminer les potentialités économiques relatives à un projet d’extension de la galerie marchande de ////, situé dans la partie Nord-Ouest de la ville d’//// (District de///).
Ainsi, dans un premier temps, nous mettrons en évidence les principales caractéristiques du site envisagé (en termes d’accessibilité et de visibilité), puis nous examinerons celles de sa zone d’attraction (d’un point de vue démographique et commercial) afin :
• D’appréhender le contexte de développement du projet,
• De déterminer son potentiel disponible et le cas échéant, de dimensionner l’extension de la galerie marchande
• De donner des orientations quant à la programmation du projet d’extension
Les résultats contenus dans cette analyse reposent sur les hypothèses énumérées dans les paragraphes ci-dessous :
• Pendant la période couverte par cette étude, la Turquie, en général, et la région d’////, en particulier, ne subiront aucune détérioration des conditions économiques existantes, susceptible d’affecter sensiblement le niveau de revenus des habitants.
• Nous admettons qu’il n’est pas prévu d’importants aménagements d’infrastructures routières susceptibles d’avoir une influence sensible sur le projet commercial étudié.

Translation - English This mission aims to determine the economic potential of an extension project of the ////// hypermarket shopping gallery located in the northwest area of the city of ///// , (district of ////).
Our first step is to highlight the principal characteristics of the proposed site, (in terms of access and visibility) and then examine those of the trade area (demographically and commercially) in order to:
• Understand the context for developing the project
• Determine the available sales potential and where appropriate, the size of the extended shopping gallery
• To give guidelines as to the extension project’s program
The results of this analysis are based on the assumptions indicated in the following paragraphs:
• During the period covered by this report, there will be no major change in the economic conditions, which obtain in Turkey and in //// in particular, which might noticeably affect the inhabitants’ levels of income.
• We assume there are no planned major road improvements likely to have a noticeable impact on the commercial project under study.
• The population in the trade area will increase approximately in line with the rate indicated in this report. The projections regarding the present and future population numbers are based on analyses of past trends observed between the last two official censuses by the TUIK (Turkish Statistical Institute) as well as our understanding of the residential projects already underway or planned notably in the north-west part of the //// urban area and in the surroundings of the //// shopping mall.
• Our evaluation of the income levels and expenditure per capita within the defined trade area is sufficiently accurate for the purposes of this study. It is based on the last available data provided by the TUIK, (cf. Methodology in appendix 3).
• The data regarding the existing and future competition within and close to the limits of the trade area of the project under study come from information obtained during our own field work (from January 21st to 25th , 2013). As there are no lists of the major stores, whether general or specialized, we have evaluated certain sales areas during our visits to////: for this reason, the sales areas given in this report should be considered as approximations.
• We assume that the ///// shopping centre’s expansion will enjoy an excellent architectural and merchandising concept. Adequate parking will be provided and the signing and directional signing of the project will be completed satisfactorily. The project will harmoniously integrate the present store names, in particularly the major existing magnet stores like LCW, Tekzen and Technosa.
