Source text - English Most of the hyaluronic acid (HA)-based dermal
fillers currently on the market are chemically
modified with cross-linkers to improve the mechanical
properties and duration in vivo. An HA gel is formed
by introducing cross-links between the HA polymer
chains so that a three- dimensional network is
obtained. The strength of the gel depends on the crosslinking
density; a stronger gel has more cross-links
than a weaker gel and hence a more dense network.
The formation of a cross-link is usually made by
chemically binding two HA polymer chains together
using a cross-linker molecule. There can be other types
of interactions in the network that contribute to the gel
strength. These interactions could consist of weaker
chemical bonds, such as hydrogen bonds, or entanglements
(mechanical interlocking) that could be
referred to as natural cross-links (Figure 1). The
number of cross-links and the ratio between the
different types of cross-links may vary depending on
the manufacturing technology chosen.
When a polymer is cross-linked, the resulting gel will
have the shape of the container in which it was
formed, unless it is a weak gel. A large monolith gel
(one large continuous gel piece) cannot be used as a
dermal filler; the gels are therefore fragmented into
smaller gel particles, which allows the gel implant to
form any shape. The properties of these small gel
particles will determine the properties of the gel to a
great extent. The geometry of the particles may also
influence the behavior of the gel. Particles of
irregular shape may be more closely packed than
spherical particles and interlock with each other,
resulting in a gel that behaves as a continuous gel.

Source text - Spanish 1.1. RESUMEN DE LA LABOR DE ALDEAS INFANTILES SOS VENEZUELA EN EL AÑO 2016
Aldeas Infantiles SOS Venezuela en el año 2016 enfatizó sus acciones en dar respuestas a las necesidades de su grupo meta, realizando grandes esfuerzos para enfrentar las condiciones socioeconómicas y políticas del país. Para comprender la realidad en la que ha estado envuelta esta Asociación Nacional (AN), es importante puntualizar los siguientes indicadores demográficos, macroeconómicos y sociales:
Según el Fondo de las Naciones Unidas para la Infancia (UNICEF) la población de Venezuela para el 2016 fue de 31.028.637 habitantes, de los cuales 9.960.553 (32.1%) son menores de 18 años.
A nivel económico, el Fondo Monetario Internacional indicó un cierre inflacionario superior al 500% (la más elevada del mundo), lo que trajo como consecuencia una alarmante baja en el poder adquisitivo de los venezolanos del consumo de bienes y servicios; a pesar de los constantes aumentos salariales decretados por el gobierno nacional.
Otros factores que acrecentaron la profunda crisis fueron la devaluación de la moneda, el excesivo control cambiario y la carencia de dólares otorgados por el estado venezolano, los cuales impactaron en el encarecimiento de los productos importados que nutren el aparato productivo venezolano, ocasionando una caída del Producto Interno Bruto (PIB).
Sumado a esto, se profundizó la escasez en más de un 80% en todo tipo de productos, especialmente los de la cesta básica. Además del impacto en el salario de los venezolanos, este hecho se tradujo en la imposibilidad de las empresas de seguir trabajando a su máxima capacidad, reduciendo sus gastos de funcionamiento, recortando sus inversiones, puestos de trabajo y fondos para cumplir con la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial.
Todos estos factores golpearon con mayor intensidad a los sectores más vulnerables del país e hicieron que los hogares en condición de pobreza aumentaran, pasando de pobreza crítica a pobreza extrema; hechos que evidencias aun más la necesidad de las Aldeas Infantiles y los Centros Sociales de trabajar arduamente por ayudar a más niños, niñas, adolescentes y jóvenes (NNAJ), familias, y comunidades en las que hacen vida.

In 2016, SOS Children´s Village Venezuela focused its efforts on giving answers to its target group, working in order to face the Country’s political and socioeconomic situation. To understand the situation where the National Association (NA) is involved, it is necessary to point out the following demographic, macroeconomic and social status:
According to The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), in 2016, Venezuela had a 31.028.637 inhabitant where 9.960.553 (32.1%) are minors.
Regarding the economic aspect, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated that the inflation rate in Venezuela was higher than 500% (the highest in the world), which produced an alarming decrease in the purchasing power in the country, in spite of the continuous pay rise given by the national government.
Other reasons that increased the alarming crisis were: the currency devaluation, the excessive currency exchange control, and the small amount of dollars given by the Venezuelan state, which produced the increase of the prices of imported products that support the Venezuelan production system causing then a decrease of the gross domestic product (GDP).
Additionally, a depth shortage (higher than 80%) of all the products and, specially, basic basket products. Besides the impact on the salary of Venezuela people, this situation caused that the companies in the country cannot work to the maximum capacity, thus they have to reduce operating costs, investments, job posts and funds to achieve the Corporate Social Responsibility.
All these factors treated badly the most vulnerable sectors of the county, and increased the poverty from critical to extreme. This facts prove the prevailing need of Children´s Villages and Social Centres of working hardly to help more children, adolescents, young people, families, and communities where they have place.
