Because of my interest in computers and my experience in programming in several programming languages and continued reading and translating in computer-related topics, I specialize in that field. I do, however, translate technical manuals in other fields, such a welding, refrigeration and industrial chemistry procedures, as well as legal and organizational documents.
I have also been translating computer-related articles and books from English into Spanish. In fact, over the last three years or so I have translated several thousand pages in that category alone.
My translation into Spanish was preferred by Costa Rican editors (journalists by profession) over number of native speakers for the translation of articles in magazines dealing with information technology and computers in general, even charging slightly more. For instance, I translate most of the articles for the IDG magazine Computerworld. Each month, I translate from 20,000 to 40,000 words from English to Spanish in computer-related articles, which also deal heavily in business topics. To further ensure quality, flow and appropriateness in Spanish, all my work is reviewed by a native Spanish-speaking professional editor. If you wish to verify my expertise, you could communicate with Erick Murillo ( [email protected]) at Trejos Hermanos Sucs. S. A., who is in charge of my translation for IDG's Computerworld and also writes articles for the magazine. I will send samples upon request.
I have worked for years with Dr. Ronald Ross, who for many years has been a full professor in linguistics in the University of Costa Rica, and has also spent a good part of his life translating books and other materials, mostly from English to Spanish. He is now a translation consultant in indigenous languages for the United Bible Societies. For the past 14 years I have often discussed translation problems with him, and he has not only given me very extensive answers and instruction, but he has directed me to helpful books about translation, as well. He also supervised my work for over four years while he directed translation at Visi |
