Source text - Greek Ένα εκπαιδευτικό περιβάλλον το οποίο θα παρέχει στους μαθητές τη δυνατότητα απόκτησης δεξιοτήτων κατασκευής και προγραμματισμού και ταυτόχρονα ένα περιβάλλον ελεύθερης έκφρασης των μαθητών και αξιοποίησης της δημιουργικότητάς τους. Η διδακτική μας πρόταση, η οποία στρέφεται προς την κατεύθυνση αυτή, αναπτύσσεται μέσα από δραστηριότητες εξοικείωσης με τα υλικά και τα αντικείμενα, διαδικασίες πειραματισμού για την ανάπτυξη των απαραίτητων δεξιοτήτων κατασκευής και προγραμματισμού και διαθεματικές δραστηριότητες που αφορούν στην ολιστική προσέγγιση της γνώσης. Translation - English This educational setting offers students the opportunity to acquire construction and programming skills in an environment which encourages and values the students’ freedom of expression and creativity. Our teaching proposal, which is centred around this concept, has been developed based on activities relating to: familiarity with different materials and objects; experimentation aimed at developing the necessary programming and construction skills; as well as facilitating cross-curricular activities which encourage a holistic approach to knowledge. Specifically, students participate in the creative completion of educational projects while interacting socially through educationally-based enjoyable activities. In this way, learning is embedded in realistic settings through the assignment of cross-curricular activities and collaborative construction projects.

Source text - Greek Οι τοπικές δυνάμεις του ΕΛΑΣ αποφάσισαν να χτυπήσουν το Χάνι για να εξουδετερώσουν τη φρουρά και να αρπάξουν τον πολύτιμο οπλισμό. Η κατάληψη του οχυρού θα ήταν δυνατή μόνο εάν ένας αριθμός ενόπλων κατάφερνε να μπει στο Χάνι. Έτσι ο διοικητής του 85ου Συντάγματος, Γ. Καλλιανέσης του ΕΛΑΣ έθεσε σε εφαρμογή ένα πρωτότυπο σχέδιο.
Τα χαράματα της 7/9/1944 εκτός από τους μαχητές που κρύφτηκαν γύρω από το Χάνι, 10 επίλεκτοι αντάρτες (Ομάδα Θανάτου) με επικεφαλής το Χαρίση Σδράβο μεταμφιέστηκαν σε άντρες και γυναίκες βλάχους κτηνοτρόφους. Κάτω από τα βαριά ρούχα τους είχαν κρυμμένα τα όπλα. Όταν πλησίασαν στην είσοδο οι ανυποψίαστοι φρουροί τους ζήτησαν τα χαρτιά. Τότε οι αντάρτες αντί για χαρτιά έβγαλαν τα όπλα, εξουδετέρωσαν τους φρουρούς και μπήκαν στο κτήριο. Ακολούθησε σφοδρή μάχη και με τη βοήθεια των ανταρτών που είχαν πάρει θέση γύρω από το κτήριο κατέλαβαν το κτήριο σε λίγα λεπτά. Στην απόσυρσή τους οι αντάρτες κατάφεραν να πάρουν μαζί τους μεγάλο μέρος του οπλισμού. Οι απώλειες των γερμανών στρατιωτών ήταν 7 νεκροί και 9 αιχμάλωτοι (άλλες πηγές αναφέρουν 25 νεκρούς και 12 αιχμαλώτους). Από την πλευρά τους οι αντάρτες είχαν 1 νεκρό (Λάζος Οικονόμου) και ένα τραυματία.
Translation - English The local ELAS (Greek People’s Liberation Army) forces decided to strike the Inn to neutralize the guards and take possession of the precious weapons. The capture of the fort would only be possible if a number of armed men managed to get inside the Inn itself. So, the Commander of the 85th Regiment, G. Kallianesis, put in place an ingenious plan.
At dawn on the 7th September, 1944, as the other rebels hid all around the Inn, ten men and women from the elite Death Squad (led by Charisis Sdravos) disguised themselves as roaming Vlach shepherds, hiding their weapons underneath their heavy clothing. When they neared the entrance, the unsuspecting guards asked for their papers. Instead of papers, the rebels produced their weapons, secured the guards, and entered the building. A fierce battle ensued but, with the help of the others who had surrounded the building, the rebels seized their prize in a matter of minutes. On their retreat, they managed to take a sizable share of the weapons with them. The German losses consisted of seven dead and nine captives (other sources report 25 dead and 12 captives). On the rebel side, there was one fatality (Lazos Oikonomou) and one injury.

Source text - Greek Η παρούσα μελέτη εξετάζει το ζήτημα της διαχείρισης των αποτελεσμάτων των επιχειρήσεων και συγκεκριμένα τη συσχέτισή της με τη φορολογία. Προκειμένου να διαπιστωθεί αν υπάρχει συσχέτιση μεταξύ της χειραγώγησης των κερδών και της φορολογίας χρησιμοποιείται το «χειραγωγήσιμο» τμήμα των συνολικών δεδουλευμένων εσόδων (discretionary accruals), δηλαδή το τμήμα εκείνο των κερδών που μπορεί να χειραγωγηθεί από λογιστικές επιλογές της διοίκησης, όπως προκύπτει υπολογιζόμενο με βάση το υπόδειγμα Jones (1991) και το τροποποιημένο υπόδειγμα Jones (Dechow et al., 1995). Στη συνέχεια εξετάζεται κατά πόσο υπάρχει συσχέτιση μεταξύ των discretionary accruals και του φόρου εισοδήματος, ο οποίος συνίσταται από τον τρέχοντα και τον αναβαλλόμενο φόρο. Τα ευρήματα της εμπειρικής ανάλυσης καταδεικνύουν ότι υφίσταται στατιστικά σημαντική σχέση μεταξύ του μέρους των δεδουλευμένων που μπορεί να υπαχθεί σε χειραγώγηση, και του συνολικού, τρέχοντος και αναβαλλόμενου φόρου. Ο φόρος συνολικά χρησιμοποιείται ενδεχομένως ως μέσο χειραγώγησης των κερδών.
Translation - English The aim of this study is to examine the question of earnings management and, specifically, how this relates to taxation. In order to determine whether there is a correlation between earnings management and taxation, we investigate the "discretionary accruals" aspect of total accruals, i.e. the portion of profits which can be manipulated by management accounting choices, as calculated by the Jones (1991) model and the modified Jones model (Dechow et. al, 1995). Furthermore, we examine to what degree a correlation may exist between discretionary accruals and tax income (consisting of current and deferred tax). Our empirical findings demonstrate a statistically significant relationship between the levels of discretionary accruals and of total, current and deferred tax. This suggests that tax in general may be employed as a means to facilitate earnings management.

I am a native English speaker from the UK. I have always been an enthusiastic traveller and passionate about languages, including my own. I moved to Greece nearly 8 years ago after completing a degree in Social Anthropology at SOAS in London and a TEFL course. Over the past years I have worked with the English language in various ways via teaching, proofreading and, more recently, translation. In June 2014, I received my Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists (DipTrans, Greek into English, distinction unit 3). Since then I have worked on various translation projects including websites, scientific journal articles, subtitling for documentaries and historical events.
