my oDesk profile :
Hi there! I'm a relaxed, easy going, straightforward translator, editor and proofreader for Italian, English, French and Spanish. I also write articles and blog content (both in Italian and English) a bit more rarely. I hold a Bachelor Degree in Modern Languages and Literature from the University of Venice and an official Certification (DALF) for French, said so, I don't really believe in formal education, I learned my skills in real life experiences and situations and I keep learning and improving. Papers don't guarantee for people; skills do.
Born and grew up in Italy from an Italian-Argentinian family, I developed since the early age very good skills and strong interests in foreign languages and cultures.
I had the chance to quickly understand that a language need to be lived further than just studied in order to be fully learned and assimilated. For this reason, since I was 15, I spent every year a period studying or working abroad (Ireland, U.K., Argentina, Spain, Tunisia, India and France) from 3 weeks intensive language courses (Dublin) up to 9 months internships (Paris); developing and mastering the languages I was studying.
I graduated in 2011 from the faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Venice Ca' Foscari, holding a Bachelor Degree in Middle Eastern and Asian Languages.
Since that (November 2011), I started a so-called nomadic life, enjoying the freedom of traveling, experiencing and sharing. I opened a blog about my travels and experiences after 6 months on the road, in May 2012; even though I'm not very active on it. I started busking seriously (after few previous tries) in February 2013, performing in over 20 countries and 50 cities around Eastern, Northern, and Central Europe.
I'm a freelancer since January 2014, did some single jobs on oDesk before finding two companies to work with continuously and accordingly with my needs. One, translating web articles of really different and various topics (from IT to Art, Music, Food, Business, Sports, Languages, Math, etc) from English to Italian, the other editing automatic translations and proofreading them.
