My name is Katarzyna Kawalec. I have been working as a translator specialising in legal and business texts since 2009. On September 20, 2016, I was accredited as a sworn translator by the Polish Ministry of Justice.
I am a holder of an MA degree in English and American Studies (with a concentration in sociolinguistics) from the Jagiellonian University, KraKow (2009). Since 2010 I have completed a one-year post-graduate course in the translation of specialized texts at the UNESCO Chair for Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication (the Jagiellonian University) and a number of courses in legal/court translation and interpreting. My professional translation-related positions include in-house translator at a law firm specializing in employment and labor law, based in Krakow (2009-2010) and the Management Board Assistant and Translator at a joint-stock company based in Lubliniec (Upper Silesia) (2013-2015). I have also worked as an in-house translator and interpreter in the Internal Audit Department at one of the commercial banks based in Wrocław. Currently, I am a freelancer based in the Katowice Metropolitan Area and render translation and proofreading services to both corporate clients, including one of the biggest commercial banks based in Warsaw, individuals, and, as a state-certified translator, to judicial authorities. Taking into consideration my experience and established career path, my translation work covers: - commercial contracts and other corporate and employment documents; - court papers; - legal opinions, letters of advice, memos; - presentations, reports, minutes, - websites; - gov./politics; - audit, finance, banking, investment. Apart from the above, I have translated a number of texts in other areas, including medicine, education, IT, religion. See the attached CV for more details.
