Source text - Spanish Convierto las violetas en ponzoña, pongo en la nieve manchas, maltrato y sobajo con el pensamiento la fresca rosa. Bien me hubiera sido en alguna manera no pasar con este mi discurso adelante, pues demás que tuviera escusado el serte molesto, no me fuera necesario pedirte perdón, para ganarte la boca y conseguir lo que más aquí pretendo; que aún muchos y quizá todos los que comieron la manzana lo juzgarán por impertinente y superfluo; empero no es posible. Porque, aunque tan malo cual tienes de mí formada idea, no puedo persuadirme que sea cierta, pues ninguno se juzga como lo juzgan. Yo pienso de mí lo que tú de ti. Cada uno estima su trato por el mejor, su vida por la más corregida, su causa por justa, su honra por la mayor y sus eleciones (elecciones) por más bien acertadas.
Translation - German Ich verwandle Veilchen in Gift, beschmutze den Schnee mit Flecken, beschimpfe und erniedrige die frische Rose mit meinen Gedanken. Zum einen wäre es gut für mich gewesen, nicht mit der meinen Rede fortzufahren, dann hätte ich mich auch nicht dafür entschuldigen zu müssen, dir lästig zu sein; es wäre auch nicht nötig gewesen, dich um Verzeihung zu bitten, um dein Vertrauen zu Gewinnen und damit das zu erreichen, was ich am meisten anstrebe; denn schon viele oder vielleicht alle, die von dem Apfel gegessen haben, werden das als bedeutungslos und überflüssig erachten, doch das ist nicht möglich. Denn selbst wenn das Bild, das du dir von mir gemacht hast, noch so schlecht ist, könnte ich mich nicht davon überzeugen, dass es zutreffend sei, denn niemand beurteilt sich so wie ihn die anderen beurteilen. Ich denke das von mir, was du von dir denkst. Ein jeder schätzt sein Benehmen als das beste ein, sein Leben als das korrekteste, seine Vorgehensweise als gerecht, seine Ehre für die höchste und seine Entscheidungen als die richtigsten.
