Translation - English Housed in a remarkable 18th century mansion, the collection traces the evolution of French fashion from the end of the 18th century to modern times. Today it includes more than 5,000 items.
Conceived in both a theatrical and educational spirit, the production offers not only a historical and artistic approach but also a sociological one. A catalogue of conventions, the museum is also a reflection on the image of women and femininity. In the same way the comparison of noble or bourgeois clothing with that of the more modest classes allows us to contrast the richness and variety on the one side with the modesty and uniformity on the other side.
Major items are continually added to the collection which also includes numerous accessories (bags, fans, shoes, hats etc.) giving you the opportunity, during your visit, to discover a beautiful collection based around costume and fashion.
