Experience
Years of experience: 8. Registered at ProZ.com: Feb 2016.
My interest in translation began when I was only a child; while I am a native speaker of US English, my father was born in France. As a result, I am intimately familiar with French language and culture. This innate interest became academic as I grew older, and consequently, I hold a B.A. in French and Francophone Studies from the University of Kentucky and an M.A. in French, specializing in translation, from the University of Oregon. During my time studying at the University of Kentucky, I spent one year living abroad in Caen, France. My advanced studies have allowed me to develop my bilingual heritage into a profound academic understanding of the grammatical structures and functions of both French and English.
This unique background is why my specialties are so varied, but they can all generally be categorized into four categories: legal, marketing, general and gaming. My bilingual heritage affords me a native understanding of colloquial idioms and slang (highly useful in marketing, general and gaming translations), whereas my academic background has provided me with the level of education required to translate highly technical legal documents. Furthermore, I have a personal passion for marketing and gaming. This makes these fields especially exciting to translate.
My proficiency in each of these specialties is further supported by years of working experience. More information regarding these past projects can be found on my CV and Upwork profile. Upwork is a more generalized freelancing website through which I have found many of my current clients. As you will see on the profile linked above, I have received nothing short of exceptional feedback for these collaborations.
As for my CV, it is only available upon request because I am constantly updating it to reflect my most recent work. With that being said, I am very easy to get in touch with, so please, don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions.
Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. I hope you now have a better understanding of what makes me a unique and highly qualified translator, and moreover, I hope to collaborate with you soon.
