My name is Radhika, and I am of South Indian origin, born and raised in Norway. I am a medical doctor by education. All my education has been in English, hence my native proficiency in English and Norwegian. I am also fluent in spoken Telugu (my mother tongue) and Hindi, and have elementary proficiency in French and Tamil . Although my professional education focused on biological science, both my interests and skill set have primarily involved literature and the social sciences. I have been editing articles, essays, short stories, and novels in English for the past four years and have been translating articles and essays in English and Norwegian for the past year. I am equally familiar with terminology in sociology, anthropology, and political science as I am with that of the medical field, and my proficiency in several languages from a very young age inclusive of South Asian languages has enabled me to grasp meaning beyond wording quickly and translate both comprehensively and efficiently. I have always been in awe of translation of prose and poetry, as the ability to bequeath the reader with a literal translation of beauty and meaning as envisioned by the author, is a rather extraordinary feat. I am also an ardent proofreader of every sentence in sight, and ensure impeccable grammar and punctuation on every page written and read. I am in the process of acquiring authorisation as a translator in Norway, however in the meantime rest assured my capacities in interpretation and translation are sufficient for the above mentioned forms of text. I have incorporated multiple fields of academia into my body of knowledge and engage in writing articles, short stories, and poetry myself. I am new to ProZ, and hope that this platform will be fortuitous to both myself and those who choose me for their work! |
